George P. Scriven photograph collection. 1878-1918.

Contains the following type of materials: photographs. Covers the following wars: Indian Wars, World War I (WWI). Contains photographs of the following military unit: Signal Corps. General description of the collection: The George P. Scriven photograph collection consists of materials that reflect the entire career of General Scriven (from his West Point years, culminating in his 1878 graduation, and to his retirement as Chief Signal Officer of the Army in 1917). Post-retirement photos of him and his family are included. After his retirement, he did an additional tour of active duty in 1917 and 1918. During this time, he traveled extensively in Albania, where he acquired hundreds of photographs of the towns, villages, and countryside of that land. Photos of his visits in Denmark and Iceland, taken on his way home, are also included.
